Love TSA Pre-Approved Traveler

Security

While going through security to fly out of Chicago O’Hare International Airport last week, I found myself thinking about how much I love the U.S. Transportation Security Adminsitration (TSA) Pre-Approved Traveler program.

Once approved and confirmed by TSA for your specific flight, you walk through a separate TSA pre-approved security checkpoint for expedited screening. Then, load your luggage on the conveyor belt and simply walk through the sensor. Believe it or not, you keep your computer, liquids, jacket and shoes in place without any hassle.

From my perspective, TSA Pre✓™ and the Global Entry program for U.S. customs are a necessity for any traveler that wants to save time and energy through security and customs checkpoints. It’s just so stress free once you are accepted into these programs. So what is TSA Pre✓™?

TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening initiative that is expanding to airports across the United States. TSA Pre✓™ enhances aviation security by placing more focus on pre-screening individuals who volunteer to participate to expedite the travel experience.

How does it work and how can I sign up?

TSA is partnering with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well as U.S. air carriers as part of this initiative. Passengers that are eligible for TSA Pre✓™ include U.S. citizens of frequent flier programs who have been invited by a participating airline. Additionally, U.S. citizens who are members of a CBP Trusted Traveler program, including Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS and Canadian citizens who are members of NEXUS that are issued a Known Traveler Number qualify to participate. Passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA Pre✓™ lanes with eligible passengers.

Where can I find TSA Pre✓™?Plane_Flying

As of July 29, 2013, TSA Pre✓™ is currently available at 40 U.S. airports nationwide. Eligible passengers traveling on Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America can learn where TSA Pre✓™ lanes are available at participating airports by clicking on the links below.

Plan your travel accordingly as all TSA Pre✓™ lanes hours of operation are subject to change based on operational commitments and flight schedules.

Sign up for this great program. Next time you’re at the airport, look for the TSA Pre✓™ signs.

Then enjoy the experience and let us know if you love it as much as we do!
