After touring Egypt, I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Sharm El Sheikh with friends and go snorkeling in the Red Sea. This had been something on my bucket list ever since a friend from college had gone scuba diving there a few years ago and loved it!
After checking with a number of places, we heard that there was great snorkeling at the reef right off the pier of the Ritz Carlton. Well, we were bit hesitant at first to believe this but it proved to be true!
We rented equipment from the Pharaoh Divers Dive Center located at the Ritz Carlton resort and went down to the pier to check out the reef. It was truly beautiful and breathtaking!
The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh directly overlooks the Amphora reef, where many varieties of rare coral and magnificently vibrant colored fish, including Butterfly and Angelfish are found.
I would highly recommend staying at this resort – reserve a room with a view of the Red Sea, take time to enjoy snorkeling the Amphora reef and relax in the sun!
From a gluten and allergy food perspective, I needed to heavily rely on my Arabic language cards to communicate my needs and in most cases I spoke with the restaurant manager. We discussed meal options, ingredients and simple food preparation based on menu items and food descriptions from the Let’s Eat Out! series. After our conversations, the meals were safe and tasty which included salads, steaks, grilled chicken and fresh delicious vegetables without sauces and garnishes.
Tell us about your adventures at Sharm El Sheikh – we would love to find out more!
